5 Easy Milk-Boosting Recipes with Less Than 5 Steps

Easy Milk-Boosting Recipes

Is your newborn fed enough? Unfortunately, most of the time, you can hardly tell. Babies have no way of telling you they are still hungry and moms tend to stop as soon as their baby stops latching on to the breast.

The only way to ensure your little one is fed enough is by making sure you are constantly producing enough milk supply. Fortunately, it can be promoted through a proper diet!

You have to plan on the right milk booster food to be included in your confinement diet and what to exclude, especially if you are at risk of producing low milk supply.

It is also important to note that you are more prone to dehydration and constant thirst from breastfeeding. With the right ingredients, you can keep your energy up while also enhancing lactation.

1)  Barley Porridge

It’s hard not to love this incredibly light but fulfilling meal! Many people who are going on a diet to lose weight replace rice with barley. Compared to brown rice, barley has twice the calcium and fibre content and approximately 30 per cent fewer calories! For new mothers, you can now happily count your calories while increasing milk supply with barley!

You will need:

2-3 tbsp of barley, soaked overnight

½ cup of mixed nuts

4 cups of water

1 tsp of brown sugar or other unrefined sugar like jaggery

Preparation:

  1. Pressure cook the barley
  2. Once it has cooled down, grind with a bit of water until it turns into paste-like consistency
  3. Cook the paste in water and keep stirring to avoid creating lumps
  4. Add nuts and brown sugar in. Best served hot!

  2. When the eggs are almost cooked, add the rice followed by light soy sauce and stir until everything is mixed and cooked evenly.
  3. When you are almost finished, add spring onion and coriander leaves at the last minute!

You will need:

120g of rolled oats

1 tbsp of dark chocolate chips

120g pomegranate seeds

½ cup of oat milk

Preparation:

  1. Stir all the ingredients in one container that has a lid
  2. Cover the container and refrigerate overnight
